I reimagined the programing and signage for University & College Designers Association’s Hand & Machine Conference. The textures of ordinary items and process of printing inspired me to incorporate this method of making into my work. After some experimentation, I pulled a print of pavement and knew the was the right direction for this project. It was beautiful, different, and something that called to mind the interaction of hand and machine in design. I used a gelatin plate and acrylic ink to capture the texture of the road, and scans of that print were used to create posters, screens, t-shirts, and a brochure.
