McDonald York came to us needing environmental graphics speaking to the company’s mission, scope of work and history. They wanted a combination of standout conversation starters and highly functional display pieces for internal use. While McDonald York had very basic branding and a few preferred finishes, we had almost complete creative freedom. We designed not only how the space would look, but more importantly how it functions.
The Show Stopper.
A map with position-able project markers was the clients top request. Our solution was a 12ft x 8ft cork map with engraved waterways and printed roads. Custom acrylic pushpins with interchangeable vinyl text allows the client to mark and change out information with ease. The map sits right off McDonald York’s break room and brings out the warm tones of that area of the office. It acts as a showpiece and conversation starter with McDonald York’s potential clients, a planning area for their internal team, and a functional art piece for the office.
Reception Wall with Vision Statements and Values
McDonald York was adamant about incorporating a reception wall that encapsulated all they stand for as a company. At first this one threw us for a bit of a loop. We implemented a prominent grid structure and used colors, materials, and textures create a cohesive product. Creating fields of colors and finishes we were able to make a design that is eye-catching from afar, yet provides detailed information upon a closer glance.
Sector Screen Displays & Photo Insert Panels
McDonald York adamantly provides up to date projects and information to their potential clients. This had previously been done with foam core printed at a local office supply shop. As a talking point with McDonald York’s current and future clients, I was unhappy with the idea of simply sprucing it up as was requested of us. We were able to show our client a cost benefit analysis of going digital vs getting new photos printed every quarter. This not only saves our client money, but also allows them to customize what is displayed for holidays, special clients, or just to see something new. We did still want to keep some physical displays where each employee is able to showcase a project they are passionate about. We switched out the foam core for a more streamlined (and cheaper!) printed paper sandwiched inside acrylic panels.
